Creative writing workshops for children

TheWritingWorkshop offers a wide range of creative writing activities for children, teachers and schools, and online.

School Holiday workshops at Sydney Olympic Park

TheWritingWorkshop holds school holiday creative writing courses every school holidays as part of the Kids in the Park program at Sydney Olympic Park. A range of courses are offered, usually spanning the age groups 5-15. Details here.

After-School workshops

What we do in our after-school children's creative writing workshops

Small group writing workshops from Kindergarten (second half of year) or Year 1 to Year 12 mean more one-on-one attention, real rapport and group spirit, and great writing
Write a new piece every week, and build skills throughout the term
Weekly writing exercises, sometimes funny, sometimes serious
Gain the skills and confidence to perform out loud
Achievement certificate at the end of each term.

After-school programs run on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, with a maximum of 10 per workshop leader.

Online workshops

Our online workshops take place in a blog setting. Participants receive high-quality feedback from published writers. For more information on online workshops (for children aged 10 and older), please click here.

In-School workshops ("incursions")

We offer high-quality in-school programs from K-12 plus hands-on (no powerpoint!) in-service courses for all staff. Please click here or contact us for more information.

NEW! We are pleased to offer after-school tailored workshops and writing clubs.

Private Writing Groups and Tuition

Please contact us to discuss weekend or private small group workshops. Usual minimum size is 12, and costings are based on our school holiday courses.
We frequently receive requests for private tuition. While we will consider proposals, please note that we are not a coaching college and all presenters are experienced, published writers.
